The Dungeon of My Heart
Because of you, I found a new hope.
Life's uphill battle is just a slope.
Because of you, I faced all my fears
and bad memories, from previous years.
The light from you, breaking every cloud.
Because of you, in sunshine I walk.
In the distance a heartbeat grows loud.
My soul, flying freely, like a hawk.
All that I've wanted, nothing I've known.
A day without you is one without sight.
Wanting to touch you, through the phone,
trying desperately, with all my might.
So many walls around my heart, high.
Above them, your spirit would fly.
In the middle, the center of me,
you stop, turn, and begin to flee.
The storm returns, clouding my heart.
Like raindrops on leaves do bounce,
upon my heart you start to trounce.
As each drop hits, I fall apart.
The uphill battle, suddenly steepened.
My spirit: the hawk, plummets to the ground.
The pain in my heart, suddenly deepened.
The distance is quiet, without a sound.
What did you see? What did you spy?
You carry on, I start to cry.
Upon my face, life adds some years.
The crying's done, all out of tears.
So many words I wanted to say,
but in your eyes, they lost their way.
As I forgive and forget the pain,
I'll live on, I'll give and I will gain.
Never will I forget you, how could I?
From the day we met, till the day I die,
within my heart, in a certain space,
exists your memory's special place.
This is my web page dedicated to Scarlet. Scarlet is great fun. Very determined and strong willed. She has a free spirit, which makes her very cool to hang out with. I can say that she has greately changed my life in many ways. She was my inspiration for the following legend. I hope you enjoy.
Of Dragons and Butterflies
By Dade For Scarlet
Once upon a time there lived a dragon. His name was Li. He had very strong
smooth green scales. Li was unlike other dragons. He was a nice dragon. While his
fellow dragons would pillage towns and rob people of their gold, Li the friendly dragon,
would lay alone in the corner of his dark cave dreaming. Li loved to play in the fields by
night. He would stroll across the hills and valleys of wildflowers. He only went at night
so to avoid Knights and Heroes who would love to capture Li and use his strong beautiful
scales to make a shield or a suit of armor Gazing up at the stars during his nightly walks,
Li thought about a great many things. He would think of Life and Death, of Love and
Hate. He didn't like to think of love. That made him lonely. After returning to his cave
one dark morning he couldn't stop thinking about how much he wanted a friend to play
with him in the fields at night. Oh how wonderful, he thought, how wonderful indeed to
share the beauty of this world with another. Oh how he longed for someone to care for,
someone who would care for him as well. When he searched for this person among the
other dragons, the only laughed at Li, telling him that he was such a silly dragon. For
weren't dragons creatures of destruction? This brought great pain into Li's soul. Would
he ever be truly happy? That night during his walk, he walked farther than he ever had
walked before. Li wished he could fly, but alas dragons have no wings. He wanted to
fly. Fly far from here. He didn't care if he ever saw his cave again. He walked all night
until he could see the sun peek over the distant mountains. He was so torn by the thought
of solitude that he fell to the ground and wept. The tears fell until he finally slipped
into a deep sleep. When Li awoke, he was startled by a swift movement in the grass beside
him. He jumped up to examine this moving thing. It was the most beautiful thing he had
ever seen. It looked like a flower but flew like a bird. Since Li had never seen a
butterfly before, he had no idea what this was. "Hello" the creature said to Li, "who might
you be?" Amazed, Li replied, "My name is Li, but who... what.... are you?". "I am Mina.",
said the butterfly. "I am a butterfly silly dragon." Li was still amazed at the creatures
beauty. "Would you like to walk with me in the fields?" asked Li. "Shurely you jest,
sweet dragon, for I can not walk. But I would love to fly along side you." That day Li
and Mina talked among the brilliant rainbow of flowers and purple mountains. They
talked about all the things that Li usually thought about during his walks. Mina made Li
happy. Many days passed and Li and Mina spent them all together. Li had finally found
what he had been searching for, what he thought would never be found. He had found
love. Then one day Mina looked very sad. When Li asked what was wrong, she said that
she had caught a very bad cold. Li picked her up ever so gently and placed her in one of
his great dragon hands. She was just a beautiful as ever, but she could not move her
kaleidoscope wings. "You know I will die soon Li?", Mina said. "Don't say that dearest
friend. You're going to live.", Li answered. "No Li, I have grown old. I am old, but I am
happy. You have made me happy. You have cared for me like no other. Always you
were looking after me. Do not worry Li for when I die I will only lose this frail body. I
will live on in these fields, and most importantly I will live on in your heart." And those
were the last word ever spoken by Li's love. Li held the dying butterfly in his hands and
wept all night long until he could no longer stay awake. When he did wake, Mina had
passed on. This brought forth one final tear from one of Li's large dragon eye. The
golden dragon tear fell upon the dead body of Mina. Li pressed her to his heart. He felt
an oddly wonderful sensation. As if something were growing out of his back. He turned
to see two very large beautiful wings. When he looked back at his hands, Mina was
gone. You see the love shared by Li and Mina was so strong that Mina had changed Li
forever. In dying she passed the ability of flight to him as one last gift. And that is how
Dragons were first able to fly. Believe me when I say that through love, anything is
possible.
